ABOUT DAVID OCONNELL
I have recently completed a Ph.D exploring the prerequisites for successful employee buyouts, and the development of employee ownership in response to insolvencies, as a strategic response by trade unions. During this research, fully funded by the Hans Böckler Foundation, I also published a number of academic and popular articles exploring aspects of my thesis.I currently work at ACT, coordinating both an interim grievance mechanism for trade unions in the Bangladesh garments sector, as well as a pilot complaints mechanism for manufacturers.I have extensive international experience in the areas of trade unionism and industrial relations, both professionally and voluntarily, serving as an elected representative of the Global Labour University Alumni and a member of the editorial board of the Global Labour Column.
