ABOUT OCEANNE C.
With diverse experience in marketing and communications, stakeholder and community relations, accessibility, and business administration, I am a driven young professional who values teamwork, effective communication, and a people-centered approach. Accessibility and disability advocacy is a lifelong passion of mine and is at the core of all that I do. Drawing from my personal experience of disability as someone who is legally blind, I\'ve taken part in numerous activities and initiatives to promote the representation and inclusion of people with disabilities in the community. I am currently a member of CNIB\'s National Youth Council where I work alongside my team members to advocate for and promote the interests of Canadian youth living with sight loss. While my academic background is primarily focused on biochemistry, life sciences, and research, this experience has proven to be extremely valuable in my career. My attention to detail and analytical thinking skills allow me to form and strengthen connections between my team\'s work, the organization\'s overall goals and mandate, and stakeholders. In my current role as a Junior Communications Officer at Accessibility Standards Canada, I am growing my skillset as a marketing and communication specialist. I am currently the primary point of contact for ASC\'s social media where I plan, execute, and liaise with stakeholders to raise awareness of our mandate and engage with the Canadian disability community. Additionally, I work alongside my team to develop strategic communication products such as communication plans and strategies, media relations products, newsletters that range from internal employee messages to quarterly stakeholder messages, and media monitoring reports. I am also fortunate to be able to represent our organization through public speaking opportunities whether it be meeting with stakeholders to share our work and accessibility best practices or presenting our programs and initiatives at public events such as our Annual Public Meeting. I am always open to forming new professional relationships – Let\'s connect!
