ABOUT OBIE L. MCKENZIE
Obie McKenzie is a highly accomplished financial services executive and public speaker. As an institutional asset management marketing executive, he was instrumental in gathering more than $50 billion dollars of assets for several leading firms including BlackRock, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, and UBS Asset Management, among others. During his nearly 20-year tenure at BlackRock, Obie was responsible for cultivating relationships with some of the largest pension funds in the United States, including the Texas Teacher Retirement System, the New York City Bureau of Asset Management, the New York State Teachers Retirement System, and the Federal Reserve Benefits Fund. Obie is an Independent Director of SharpLink Gaming (Nasdaq: SBET), an Ethereum Treasury Staking business, where he provides board-level oversight across governance, executive compensation, and audit matters. He currently serves as Chair of the Investment & Technology and Compensation Committees and as a member of the Audit Committee.Obie is a member of the Global Client Advisory Panel for the Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC), one of the largest institutional investment managers in Australia. He serves as an advisor to the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. Previously, he served as Vice Chairman of Cordiant Capital, a global infrastructure and real assets investment firm focused on agriculture investing, digital technology, and transportation infrastructure.The recognition Obie has received for his work on behalf of the industry and the community include the Richard A. Lothrop Outstanding Achievement Award from the Association of Investment Management Sales Executives (AIMSE), the Wall Street Hall of Fame Award from the National Association of Securities Professionals (NASP), and the New York Mission Society’s Wall Street Award for Service to Children.Obie is a former trustee of Tennessee State University, a founding board member of the TOIGO Foundation, a former President of AIMSE, a founding board member of Girls Who Invest, and a founding board member of NASP. He graduated from Tennessee State University and earned his MBA from Harvard Business School. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Commercial Science from the University of Hartford.
