ABOUT OLIVER SPENSLEY-CORFIELD

I am a Chartered Performance Psychologist and HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist. I also still race professionally at the highest level of the sport, and that experience is foundational to everything I do.Most psychologists study pressure from the outside. I compete inside it. That distinction shapes how I work. I am not translating theory into practice; I am working from both simultaneously.Through that experience, and through years of working with athletes and executives, I have come to hold one central belief: we all have a default, and we can all change. That is not a slogan. It is the operating assumption behind every piece of work I do.My practice, Think 2 Win Performance, exists to help high performers understand how they operate, adapt when it counts, and perform in a way that is both excellent and sustainable. The model is straightforward: Core. Focus. Fulfil. The work rarely is.What I find, across sport and business without exception, is that the margin between those who thrive under pressure and those who falter is rarely defined by talent or technical skill. It comes down to self-awareness: the ability to read yourself as precisely as you read the environment, and to adapt in real time rather than after the fact. That is what I build with clients, whether they are athletes competing on the world stage, or executives navigating complex organisations under sustained pressure.I work with high performers across sport and business. The contexts differ. The psychology does not. What separates sustained high performance from isolated results is the capacity to understand oneself under pressure, regulate effectively, and maintain a process that holds when the stakes are highest. My approach draws on Stoic philosophy, Self-Determination Theory, humanistic psychology, complexity thinking, and relational and cognitive-behavioural frameworks. None of that is of value to a client unless it translates into something practical. My philosophy reflects that: explore, do not control. We work with what is real, build from what is strong, and remain honest about what needs to change.Beyond Think 2 Win, I deliver high-performance communication programmes with Stand & Deliver, and hold roles at Oxford Brookes University spanning sport psychology, performance coaching, and athlete welfare. If you work with people who need to perform when it matters, or you are one of those people, I would be glad to connect.
