ABOUT NYLA PRUITT

HI! I am Nyla Pruitt, a third-year student at Barnard College of Columbia University, majoring in Africana Studies and Neuroscience and Behavior! I am interested in the intersection of public policy and the life sciences. My research and policy work are connected by a focus on equity, analysis, and real-world application.In the Claudia Lugo Lab at New York Psychiatric Institute, I research how socioeconomic disadvantage influences stress, sleep, and maternal health outcomes, integrating quantitative survey data, biospecimen-derived measures, and qualitative analysis to gain insight into disparities individuals face during the transition to parenthood. I conduct policy research on political, economic, and social developments affecting youth in Africa as a Babel Institute Africa Studies Fellow, producing analytical writing and advancing research agendas in collaborative settings.I specialize in synthesizing complex scientific and policy data into clear, strategic insights.
