About Nick Ansbacher

I am a sophomore Honors Carolina student pursuing a Physics (Astrophysics Path) B.S. and a Mathematics B.A, hoping to teach and conduct research as a University professor. I am inspired by people like Sean Carroll, and the Veritasium YouTube channel, as their efforts to make physics approachable and understandable to large audiences is what has driven my passion to pursue a career in academia. In high school, after writing a research paper focused on testing the validity of Hubble’s Law at various cosmic distances, I knew I wanted to contribute to research at the highest level. I spent the Fall of 2025 working in the Joint Fluids Lab, using particle image velocimetry to analyze the dynamics of aluminum spheres in low Reynolds regimes. This semester, I joined the Theoretical Cosmology Group, working under Dr. Adrienne Erickcek to improve the predictive capabilities of a feed-forward neural network. In my free time, I like to play ice hockey, sing at my piano, and lead campus tours with the UNC Office of Admissions.

   Oversight of annual team budget, individual dues, and tracking expenses- Coordination of logistics for tournaments, travel, boarding, and team events- Collaboration with leadership and administration to assist with scheduling and communication with team members, coaches, and UNC-CH Sport Club Staff.
