As supervising custodian, responsible for ensuring that everything and everyone is accounted for, even when moving around within the detention facility. Work by contingency plans to maintain security and control within the establishment. Responding to any requests or complaints from custodians in a timely and honest manner, following national and local policies.Complying with the required security procedures outlined in the National Security Framework and the custody/sentence management arrangements caseload, required to respond to various incidents involving prisoners, and should only use force when necessary and as per the approved techniques for restraining custodians.Duties include carrying out the departmental duties and services to custodians as per the Prison Regime, Policy and Procedures. Adhere to all relevant Prison Service Orders and report any clear breaches. Additionally, effectively manage prisoners who are at risk of self-harm and ensure compliance with the Health & Safety and Violence reduction strategy.Required to carry out internal or external escorts of prisoners and hospital bed watches, and complete objective, factual, and concise reports on prisoners as necessary. Moreover, monitor vulnerable prisoners appropriately and establish and maintain professional and appropriate relationships with prisoners by being a positive role model and an effective PCO.Responsibility to ensure that all prisoners have access to purposeful activities that meet their individual needs. Furthermore, report any important information or intelligence to the Security Department while maintaining strict confidentiality in all sensitive matters. Comply with audit requirements and ensure that operational matters such as headcounts, searching, supervision, and security, together with administrative processes, are all effectively delivered.
