About Numair Alani
Noise/Vibration (NVH) CAE/Test Engineer with 25+ years of experience in NVH structural analysis using FEA and ~5 years testing. Extensive NVH product development experience, Value Optimization & root cause analysis in full vehicle/subsystems development. Great passion for learning and innovation, team player and like working with people. At Dana, currently responsible for prop shafts, conventional/electrified axles & electric motors testing using bench & vehicle environments. In the past, I worked on the Faraday Future electric car. I plaid a pivotal role supervising & building the FEA model of the DF91 trim body & chassis models. My role included teaching junior engineers building FEA models, analyze & understand the results. Worked on Chrysler FWD/small cars development between 19••••08 for full system down to component level CAE analysis. At Nissan, I worked on the Altima & Maxima programs as a NVH Product Development Engineer where I had significant contributions in bringing a new model to the market (Maxima), and bringing a new face to the Altima. At LMS International I worked on Test-to-FE correlations, Modal & acoustics using BEM/ FEM analysis. I worked on projects for GM, Ford, John Deere, Polaris, Cummins, Volvo, P&G, Flex Metals, Wuxie. TECHNICAL COMPETENCES • Full vehicle NVH analysis, for powertrain noise, road noise, road shake, idle shake and normal modes. • Full vehicle NVH assembly using ANSA NVH Console including handling bushings and engine mounts for chassis and powertrain. • FEA pre/post processors: ANSA, Meta-post, HyperGraph & Optistrut. • Altair Inspire & Optistruct optimization. • Analysis codes: MSC/NASTRAN, AMLS, Optistruct. • Siemens Virtual Lab: Correlation, N/V Module, NVH and Acoustics (BEM, FEM) • Computer languages: FORTRAN. • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint and MS Word. • Excellent Unix/Linux systems knowledge. NASTRAN Expertise: • Linear/Non-Linear Static Analysis • Modal, Direct Frequency Response Analysis • Direct Transient • Optimization

Supporting Dana NVH product development of axles, prop shafts and E-drive systems. NVH development involves on-road vehicle testing activities, operational bench testing using Testlab Signature and Modal Impact Acquisitions. I was the first to introduce correlation between test & CAE/FEA to Dana. I educated the engineering community/CAE team members on Modal Assurance Criterion (MAC) and how to use it in interpreting correlation analysis between test and CAE. I used Siemens Testlab for testing and Altair Pretest module to plan the response/excitation points on the object being tested, then used Altair MAC & Optistruct optimization to improve the correlation by optimizing the material/properties cards to extract the best properties that will correlate to test. On Electric motors NVH testing and analysis, I used different techniques like Kurtosis and Wavelet analyses to understand the kind of noise that the motors generate and to look into transient events like tick and other objectionable noises, root-cause them and direct a fix for the unfavorable noise.
