About Nick Wood
Mr. Wood is a nationally-recognized researcher and project manager focused on the intersection of transportation policy, planning, and operations. Specifically, Mr. Wood led research that investigated how emerging technologies influenced the transportation system, the effective implementation of road and parking pricing systems, design and behavioral factors for managed lanes (e.g, carpool and express toll lanes), and the rollout of connected vehicle applications for commercial fleet vehicles. During the last five years, Mr. Wood managed numerous research projects as a Principal Investigator from a variety of public agency and corporate sponsors. He authored over 75 journal reports, conference papers, and project reports during his time as a researcher. Mr. Wood also served for over a decade on the Managed Lane Committee of the Transportation Research Board (TRB), and served as its Research Coordinator for many years.

Nick is a deeply experienced research manager within the Connected Infrastructure Program of the Texas A&M Transportation Institute. He supervised teams of researchers for numerous, externally-funded projects. He led in the development of FHWA\'s National Inventory of Specialty Lanes and Highways, outfling the location of all managed lanes and toll facility in the United States. Mr. Wood led TTI’s role in the Miles Matter project, an multi-year evaluation of a smartphone-based road user crediting system aimed at exploring alternatives to the traditional gas tax in the Dallas-Fort Worth region (supported by FHWA\'s STSFA program). Mr. Wood also led a multi-year partnership to deploy connected vehicle applications throughout the state. Nick also led a number of projects for the FHWA Office of Operations on topics related to managed lanes, tolling and pricing, and integrating planning into transportation programs.
