I lead the User Modeling and Personalization Research team at Snapchat, and report directly to our CTO. Our team is comprised of brilliant research scientists and engineers (10 FTEs) and interns. We develop innovative techniques for modeling user behavior and empowering our business partners to build world-class user-centric ML systems across Snapchat. I oversee research strategy, external collaborations, and internal technical transfers while also maintaining some IC bandwidth. I also lead central initiatives around graph machine learning; our research work spans areas including graph data augmentation, scalable training and inference, and overcoming modeling and expressiveness limitations. Our applied work facilitates training and inference for graph ML models at scale, and business applications of such models to predictive user behavior tasks such as friend recommendation and anti-abuse systems.
