About Natasha Sequeira
Fourth-year biomedical engineering student, aspiring future physician. My passion for the idea of innovating complex solutions towards human health issues brought me to the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida, where I am working on my Bachelor\'s degree in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Engineering Innovation on the pre-medical track. I am embracing every opportunity to explore my interests, as I actively utilize a diverse set of skills acquired through rigorous coursework and extracurricular activities. At the moment, I am doing research in the Keselowsky Lab in the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering as an undergraduate assisting in plasmid preparation and protein purification, cell passaging, and providing critical insights into biomaterials and hydrogel characteristics through rheology. Committed to making a positive impact beyond the lab, I dedicate my time to uplift the lives of immunocompromised children at the University of Florida Health Shands Hospital. As a volunteer, I spark joy, provide comfort, and foster resilience to make a meaningful difference in their lives. As an integral member of a dynamic team, I actively contribute to the development of three-dimensional assistive hand devices for recipients in Gainesville. Fueling my passion for creativity and making a difference, I hold the role of President for UF Alpha Epsilon Delta chapter, leading a team of directors who spread community service, professional development and creativity into their events that support our philanthropies, exceed fundraising goals, and connect a 300 person member body. The most valuable lesson I have learned from the University of Florida thus far is that success is not the absence of failure, but how one responds to trials and the ability to grow. Although I know I want to be a physician, I remain eager to explore the application of engineering principles to medicine. Proficient in MATLAB, Blender, circuits/electronics with Arduino, laboratory skills, and with a love for math and public speaking, I seek to expand my technical skills through a summer internship that offers real-life experience and further development.
