ABOUT NOUR LIDAWIEH SINOKROT

Sustainability is at the core of what I do everyday.Devestating floods are hindering decades of progress for developing nations and disrupting developed countries worldwide.It is no small challenge to mitigate and alleviate flood risks but I am dedicated to take on this challenge. I combine engineering knowledge with tech skills to design sustainable solutions that help in fighting the issues brought forth from urban creep and climate change. Here\'s how:1. Climate Advocate: I help to disconnect the UK\'s surface water from the over-burdened combined sewers by designing Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS). This leads to less triggers that would otherwise utilise CSOs during torrential rainfall, which means less pollutants in our rivers and streams to maybe one day, dare I say, eliminate the need for CSOs. Reduce Flood Risk: I analyse catchments on city scale using ICM Infoworks to identify flood hotspots where crucial SuDS solutions would result in better surface water management and less flood risk.3. Promote Sustainability- I often give talks to school children about the importance of sustainable designs in civil engineering and how any industry can do the same. I also unapologetically promote STEM careers in the process. Build Forts- Fortifying cities from flood risk is one thing, but how effective is it without a robust network of similar climate advocates? The more of us, in every industry, the quicker (and smarter) our solutions will bring us to saving our beloved Earth. Let\'s build interconnected Forts!
