I am delighted to teach a new course I developed, Legislative Advocacy for Economic Justice, at Berkeley Law in Fall 2024. With the California Legislature as the backdrop, my students are learning how to make law at its source, before legislative bodies, in order to advance consumer rights and economic justice. Together we are “lifting the dome” off the State Capitol in Sacramento to explore the California legislative process and to prepare the students to be effective legal advocates representing and working alongside low-income communities to solve real-world problems.
