ABOUT NORM SILVER

I pride myself on being able to discover gaps in healthcare delivery and create solutions that enhance patient experience while using the most advanced tools and technology available.I started my career as a pediatric emergency physician and continue to enjoy provided care to children in the emergency department. Over the years, I have identified opportunities to improve healthcare delivery in a number of areas and worked to improve those areas. These first included initiatives in my own emergency department such as starting nurse initiated x-rays which decreased the length stay in the emergency department of children with fractures by 1.5 hours; starting oral rehydration in the waiting room for children with gastroenteritis which expedited their stays.I then started a variety of programs outside of the emergency department in other areas of the hospital and in the community as a whole-A pediatric sedation service at the children\'s hospital-A pediatric locum program to provide uninterrupted service to the children of Western Manitoba-The Minor Injury Clinic for Kids which provides approximately patient visits a year to children with injuries-The first non-public urgent care center in Manitoba-A penicillin de-labelling clinic-A drive-up, appointment based Covid Testing site.Currently, I am spending my time as the CEO of QDoc which provides real-time virtual medicine services with the mission statement to provide quality medical care to all Canadians regardless of geographic location or socioeconomic status.I am always working on and looking for my next project to creatively improve healthcare!
