ABOUT NORMA FAY NICHOLSON

Norma holds an MA in Adult Education and a BA in Sociology and Psychology. She is a Retired RN with forty years of healthcare leadership experience. A five-time self-published author of nonfiction books, she uses these books as educational tools to reach children, youth, and their families and enhance their knowledge about the Canadian Youth Justice System. She facilitates public education forums essential to strengthening the safety and well-being of Black and Minority Families. She is a dynamic public speaker who delivers education in schools, community youth programs, workshops, conferences, and small or large community spaces. She facilitates education locally, nationally, and internationally. She collaborates with community stakeholders to connect literature with education to enhance literacy, critical thinking, empowerment, and understanding of complex issues that oppress Black and Minority communities. In her recently published book, END, Incarceration of Black and Minority Youth, she shared lived experiences of the trauma youths encounter in their communities and when incarcerated. She strongly believes in educating families, youth and children about prevention before any child comes into contact with the criminal justice system. She is an ardent community volunteer who was recently honoured with the King Charles Coronation Medal, which recognizes her exceptional positive impact on the lives of communities across Ontario.
