The Centre Region Council of Governments (COG) is a voluntary association of the State College Borough and the Townships of College, Ferguson, Halfmoon, Harris and Patton. The COG provides Fire Protection, Emergency Management, Code Administration, Parks and Recreation, Library, Planning and Refuse and Recycling services for the region. The COG has a budget of approximately $29 M and 80 full-time, 30 part-time staff and 300 seasonal and/or contract staff. Its service area is about 150 square miles with a population of residents including University students. The COG celebrated 50 years of service in 2019 and is governed by a 32-member General Forum composed of the elected officials from the member municipalities.
