About Nora Maynard
Nora Maynard (they/she) is a versatile vocalist & violinist, constantly exploring in a range of styles from Bach to Sondheim to Joni Mitchell and others. Nora has currently been exploring a longstanding love affair with vocal harmony in a solo project called Surefire Cure, a band with Rafael Natan known as Petting Kazoo, and frequently found in collaboration with Anaís Azul. Nora also recently enjoyed taking part in the Celebrity Series of Boston\'s \"Concert for One\", wherein one musician and one audience member meet in a small concert room for 1 intimate minute of musical performance. Nora was featured in Somerville Scout magazine, regarding a recurring class called \"Protest Choir Project\", a group voice class geared primarily for LGBTQIA community members who would like to learn progressive songs and body-aware vocal technique in a community setting. Nora is a voice teacher and the Founding Director and and Instructor for voice and violin at the WholeTone Music Academy. Nora is a National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Member. Nora believes that music is a connective tissue that can strengthen families as well as communities. In the teaching studio, Nora starts with the idea that the entire body is integral to music making, offering detailed explanations of technique, always with an accessible tie-in to the singer\'s goals. Nora offers singers a broad and playful toolbox full of ways to expand range, develop body awareness, and get out of the way of their own beautiful voice! Dramatic coaching also available.
