Region 5 Land, Chemicals, and Redevelopment Division: Materials Management and Source Reduction Section• Assists in promoting pollutant source reduction and waste minimization by providing technical assistance, advice, training, and resources for Tribal communities and recipient organizations to conduct Pollution Prevention and Sustainable Materials Management projects.• Reviews and responds to General Assistance Program (GAP) workplans, progress reports, and EPA-Tribal Environmental Plans (ETEPs) to identify each Tribe’s solid waste management needs and opportunities for EPA assistance. • Assists Tribes in using EPA planning tools and resources to develop Integrated Waste Management Plans (IWMPs) and review and provide comments on draft IWMPs. Reviews Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs) for compliance.• Provides technical support and professional scientific expertise to ensure actions taken are consistent with program priorities and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.• Works closely with Tribal staff to increase resiliency and resistance to hazards, developing an All-Hazards Waste Management Planning Tool.• Participates in regional and national teams and workgroups and seeks opportunities to collaborate with other relevant agencies, internal and external (e.g, Bureau of Indian Affairs, FEMA, Indian Health Service, etc.).• Understands and researches current information on sustainable food management, electronic waste management, illegal dumping, and environmental laws enacted by Congress through which EPA carries out its efforts.(RCRA, TSCA, NEPA, FIFRA, EPCRA, CERCLA, etc.).
