ABOUT NOOR MOHAMMADD
Noor Mohammadd is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Defence and Security at Cranfield University, where his research primarily focuses on the development of compound semiconductor-based solid-state sensors for biodetection applications. The project is funded by Research England (UKRI) through the Biodetection Technologies Hub and involves collaboration with academics and researchers from the University of Manchester, University of Hertfordshire and University of Leeds.Additionally, he holds an M.Sc. in Optical Communications and Signal Processing from the University of Bristol, where his research focused on magnetic-plasmonic nanoparticles for metal-enhanced fluorescence (MEF) biosensing. Using Lumerical FDTD, he optimised iron oxide-silver core-shell nanoparticles for fluorescence enhancement, analysing the Purcell factor, electric field distribution, and spectral shifts in multi-particle systems, demonstrating their potential for biomedical sensing applications.Previously, Noor earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), Dhaka, Bangladesh. His undergraduate thesis explored the absorption tunability of graphene-based one-dimensional photonic crystal structures, as well as the fundamental expression of graphene conductivity from the Kubo formula, along with some approximated expressions incorporating the Drude model. After completing his undergrad studies, he worked on several research projects related to Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) based PCF sensors and consequently, published multiple research articles in Elsevier, IOP Publishing, Springer, etc.
