About Noorjahan K

I am a Mental Health Practitioner and Researcher with seven years of experience working across clinical, academic, and community settings. My professional journey began in counselling and psychosocial support for children, adolescents, and individuals facing mental health challenges, with expertise in areas such as school and college social work, child and adolescent counselling, orphanage support, and drug addiction treatment. Currently, I serve as Project Head of the Woman and Child Resilience Project, which focuses on empowering widowed, deserted, and single mothers while developing family-based care models for orphaned children. In this role, I design and implement community-based mental health interventions and mentorship initiatives that strengthen the resilience of both mothers and children from marginalized backgrounds. My research interests lie at the intersection of gender, religion, and mental health. I study the lived experiences of Muslim women in marital practices, the everyday mental health struggles of women, and the challenges faced by mother-researchers balancing scholarship and caregiving. These inquiries reflect my deep commitment to bringing underrepresented voices into academic and policy conversations. In addition to practice and research, I have four years of experience as a social work instructor and department lead, mentoring young professionals and contributing to curriculum development. I have published in social science journals, co-authored a biography of M. Haleema Beevi, and created counselling and awareness modules on premarital preparation, student mentoring, and addiction prevention. My career is driven by a commitment to mental well-being, social justice, and community resilience, and I continually seek opportunities to apply my expertise in ways that create meaningful impact.
