ABOUT NOLAN WONG

I am a Calgary-based process engineer with 14+ years experience. I started my career in Fox Creek with SemCAMS ULC at their sour gas plant, Kaybob Amalgamated. From there, I was the Facility Engineer in charge of day-to-day maintenance and capital projects. Highlights include a hot tap and stopple on a flare line and a building replacement. During the plant turnaround, I was appointed the Engineering Project Lead for 50+ projects, which included emergency isolation valve installations and a sour vessel head replacement. In 2010, I moved back to Calgary and started with Upside Engineering where I spent 7 years. At Upside I was a process engineer and worked on projects for clients such as TransCanada Corporation, Canadian Natural Resources, Keyera Energy, Devon Energy Canada, and Gibson Energy Inc. These projects ranged from heavy oil and bitumen tank farms, including diluents, pumping, and flushing, to equipment pressure protection to steam systems to butane blending. I am proficient with HYSYS process simulation software, as well as Pipeflo hydraulic simulation software and Microsoft Office. I am experienced in the design, including both green and brown field, of sweet and sour facilities, as well as their troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization. Outside of work, I play soccer year round, ski and billiards in the winter, and paintball in the summer.
