I graduated from Colgate University in May 2024 with a double major in Neuroscience and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. During the pandemic, I made the decision to take a gap year between my first and second years, recognizing that online learning was not the most effective environment for my academic growth. Instead, I chose to contribute directly to the pandemic response by earning my phlebotomy certification and working at a hospital in New York City. This hands-on experience not only deepened my understanding of healthcare systems but also reaffirmed my commitment to pursuing a career in medicine. With a clear goal of becoming a Physician Associate, I completed a post-baccalaureate certificate program at George Washington University’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences to fulfill the necessary prerequisites for PA programs. As I continue to prepare for this path, I plan to gain valuable experience through more clinical and STEM-driven experiences during my gap year.
