WORK HISTORY
Senior Postdoctoral Associate @Sanford Burnham Prebys
San Diego, CA, US
Study the role of macropinocytosis in macrophages within the pancreatic tumor microenvironment (PDAC) and how it shapes immune function.• Develop and optimize in vitro platforms using bone marrow–derived macrophages (BMDMs) and PDAC cell lines to quantify nutrient uptake and functional phenotypes.• Build co-culture workflows to interrogate macrophage–tumor interactions and connect phenotype to mechanism.• Evaluate multiple pharmacological agents to dissect contributions of macropinocytosis to macrophage polarization and function.• Support in vivo work with early feasibility testing to strengthen downstream study design and interpretation.• Continuously improve assay robustness (controls, dynamic range, repeatability) through iterative optimization and troubleshooting.• Present data and recommendations to the team; contribute to project strategy discussions and next-step planning.• Mentor interns and research associates; provide training in experimental design, execution, and data interpretation.

ABOUT NOEMI CABRE
With over ten years of experience in pharmacology and biomedicine, I focus on developing new treatments for cancer and metabolic diseases, particularly in gastroenterology. My work involves studying metabolic pathways and immune interactions that influence disease progression, and I have skills in drug discovery, target validation, organoid technology, and biomarker development.I have successfully led and managed research projects using advanced methods in preclinical models, including humanized and genetically engineered mice. I collaborated with industry partners to create drug screening processes and develop protocols that speed up the evaluation of new therapies. My translational research approach includes experience in clinical trials and regulatory compliance for biomarker identification and validation. My goal is to advance scientific knowledge and improve patient care.
