Documentary Filmmaker - the Bears on Pine Ridge (Pbs in Partnership with Vision Maker Media)

I directed, produced, filmed, and edited \'The Bears on Pine Ridge\', a feature documentary that aired nationally on PBS in 2024 and is now streaming on PBS.org. The film covers the youth suicide crisis on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation during a declared State of Emergency, where I lived on location to document the story firsthand beginning as early as 2015. The short version of the film premiered at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival (nominated for the Big Sky Award) and won four Best Documentary Short awards. In 2021, in partnership with Vision Maker Media, the project was awarded a public broadcasting grant to expand into a full-length broadcast, bringing much-needed visibility to Indigenous mental health and community resilience. I led all stages of production and post-production, including directing, editing, sound design, and social media outreach. This project ended up becoming the most challenging and personally rewarding experience of my life. I forever value the connections I keep from this experience.
