ABOUT NOEL LEON

Noel León holds a Diplom Ingenieur and a Dr. Ing. degree in mechanical engineering (Summa Cum Laude), both from the Dresden University of Technology, Germany. He is Emertius Professor at Tec de Monterrey, where he teaches Product Design for Master and at PhD students. He is member of the Mexican National Investigation System. He is Leading Scientist at Onkosolutions LLC. He has been advisor of more than 80 PhD and Master Thesis. His recent activity has been focused on reducing costs of Instapap (device for screening of cervical cancer) while simultaneously improving its specificity and sensibility. He continues his research looking for ways of reducing costs of solar energy. He has created the method Lean Intelligent Innovation (LIn^2) that is being introduced in enterprises for minimizing time, risks and costs of innovation. He has contributed to the innovation of multiple products and devices. Among others high temperature solar thermal energy, thermal energy storage, Fresnel lenses for minimized solar tracking. His group is also developing an innovative hybrid vehicle concept that reuses the energy contained in escape gases. Prof. Leon is one leading consultant and project facilitator in innovation technology and engineering design. He is consultor and advisor for Design Automation methods and software. He has conducted more than 100 courses on innovation and TRIZ (Theory for Inventive Problem Solving) topics for companies in Mexico and worldwide. He is also a trainer and consultant for Design for Manufacturing and Assembly and agent of Bothroyd Dewhurst Inc. for Mexico and Latin America. He holds 20 issued patents and has published more than 100 papers in indexed Journals and Conferences. He is founder and ex-chairman of the Mexican TRIZ Association and of the IFIP WG5.4 Computer Aided Innovation. He is member of the Excecutive Committee of the Altshuller Institute, ASEE, and The Design Society.
