ABOUT NOA LEACH

I am a writer and editor, and content curator with 7+ years of experience in communicating science issues.I\'m particularly those that relate to the climate and biodiversity crises and human health and fertility, and write about these issues – and everything else, from dog psychology to quantum tornadoes – for BBC Science Focus, where I also lead our digital special issues, commission features and host podcasts.In my previous position as Editor of The Wildlife Trust BCN\'s magazine Local Wildlife, I project managed the publication of the magazine, wrote news stories and features for this magazine and local publications, and supported our digital communications channels.I hold an MPhil in Criticism and Culture from the University of Cambridge, where I was awarded the prestigious Boak Scholarship of Clare Hall (a merit-based award given to one student per year), which fully funded my studies. While researching environmental media and literature at Cambridge, I also took the role of my college\'s Green Officer (as part of the Graduate Student Body), rowed in the Cambridge regatta, and completed carbon literacy training. I was also a Publishing Consultant and contributor to the student newspaper, Varsity, as well as a writer for the arts magazine The Cambridge Review of Books.My essay on Indigenous media responding to glacial ice melt was recommended for publishing by my course tutor, Dr Robert Macfarlane, and has since been shortlisted for the Future Places Environmental Essay Prize, led by Lancaster University in partnership with Emergence Magazine and Saraband Publishers.I also hold a first-class degree in English from the University of Bristol. While at Bristol I was also the Editor of the independent student newspaper, Epigram, and events organiser for the Journalism Society and Wildlife Film Society. During my undergraduate university career, I achieved the Change Maker Award for my efforts towards sustainability as well as the Bristol Plus Award for demonstrating excellent employability skills through work experience and other extra-curricular activities.Soon after graduating from Bristol I secured an internship with the Ol Pejeta wildlife conservancy in Kenya. I subsequently began my 16 month role as Creative Communications Officer for Mindfully Wired Communications, where I enjoyed creating content about sustainable fisheries and marine conservation for a range of stakeholders.
