Noah Griffin was born in San Francisco. By the age of seven, he demonstrated a love of music and performance. By 12, he had sung with the San Francisco Opera, shared the stage with Leontyne Price, Nat Cole and Paul Robeson and helped open Disneyland, all while part of the San Francisco Boy\'s Chorus. Following a family tradition, he went to Fisk University for college in Nashville, Tennessee where his father had graduated 40 years earlier.Griffin is proud of his membership with the famed Fisk University Jubilee Singers. Not only did they pre-date the famous Whippenpoofs of Yale by nearly 3 decades, but introduced the hitherto unknown Negro Spiritual to the world. While at Fisk,Griffin accepted a Summer\'s History Fellowship at Yale. Following Cole Porter\'s footsteps, he entered Harvard Law School (\'70) where he continued to perform in and around the Boston area. As a member of the Harvard University Choir, he was honored to audition for and solo with Duke Ellington in his Boston performance of The Sacred Concert, which originally debuted at San Francisco\'s Grace Cathedral in 1966. Like Cole, the Law School Dean encouraged Griffin\'s singing, even recommending him to the law firm where Porter was a client. But unlike Cole, Griffin took a 40 year detour in government, politics, and media only to return to that same law firm more than four decades later to an interrupted dream, forming The Cole Porter Society, intent on preserving, promoting and perpetuating the musical legacy of what Griffin proclaims to be American\'s finest musical poet of the 20th Century.
