Results driven executive leader with 18+ years of experience leading diverse teams and organizations increasing equitable systematic outcomes. My approach focuses on dismantling systemic bias and inequities for marginalized populations and communities to increase belonging and overall organizational culture. Experienced grant manager leading $8+ Million in federal and foundation funding to support student access and completion primarily for first generation, low-income and underrepresented students, including students with disabilities. My research centers on race and racial equity in urban school systems, colleges and universities, Black male success, school-parent relationship, educational policy and parent engagement.Recognized as a skilled and highly sought after leader. Elected in 2019 to the Akron School Board, becoming the first Black Gay Muslim elected in Ohio and one of a few in the country, serving as Vice President (2020) and President (2021 & 2022).Honored with many awards such as 2020 Champion of Pride by Advocate Magazine, 2020 Elected Official of the Year and 2016 Harold K.
