About Nitisha Popat
Nitisha Popat is an architect, urbanist and researcher currently living in India. In 2010, she obtained her Bachelors Degree in Architecture from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, India where she graduated with distinction and honors. Subsequently, in 2014 she completed an M.Arch in Housing & Urbanism at the Architectural Association School in London. Prior to Architectural Association, she trained at Hundred Hands, Bangalore and her work here involved assisting on various projects like Corporate Office and Apartment project for VDB, Argent and competitions like the Indian Music Experience, Brigade Group. Thereafter, she worked at AKDC, Hyderabad where she was primarily tasked with the design development, estimation and execution of several hospitality and residential projects. Her research at the Architectural Association was focused on applying architectural thinking into urban planning (knowledge neighbourhood) and developing spatial tools that help structure complex urban development strategies (productive cities). She has participated in international urban design workshops in London and Recife, Brazil and subsequently published work. She was awarded the Beverly Bernstein Award, AA 2013/2014 for her research focused on rethinking inner-city production and public infrastructure through cross-territorial supply chains.
