ABOUT NITI PATEL
Passionate about early intervention, I believe that treating childhood mental health is not simply about addressing symptoms, but about building a foundation for lifelong wellness. With more than half of mental health conditions emerging by age 14, I am committed to equipping young people with coping skills, resilience, and timely support to prevent long term challenges. As a student dedicated to understanding the brain-body connection through both biology and psychology, I am preparing to pursue medical school and become a child and adolescent psychiatrist. My goal is to provide developmentally informed care for youth facing mental, emotional, and neurodevelopmental disorders, including depression, while integrating neuroscience, behavioral science, and community context into treatment.I have worked closely with children through tutoring, supporting their academic growth while gaining insight into the connection between learning and emotional well being. I am also preparing to begin work in ABA and play-based therapy settings to further develop my skills in child centered, evidence based care. In addition, I serve as a crisis counselor, providing support during moments of acute distress, and as a diversity advocate on my college campus, promoting inclusion and culturally responsive dialogue within the community. What drives me is the pursuit of equity centered psychiatric care that reduces stigma, advances diversity and inclusion, and expands access for underserved communities. Born and raised in California’s Inland Empire, I hope to one day serve San Bernardino and Riverside counties-regions that continue to face significant barriers to healthcare access. With an interdisciplinary academic foundation and a deep commitment to service, I aspire to build a career that bridges science, advocacy, and compassionate care to improve lifelong outcomes for young people.
