Originally established by Late Mr. Harbans Lal Sarin in Lahore (now in Pakistan) in the year 1932, the firm shifted to Shimla after the partition of undivided India. Sarin & Co. branched out into the field of aviation with the joining of Mr Nitin Sarin in 2008. It is the only law firm in India to provide complete aviation law services to banks, aircraft lessors, financial institutions, international airlines and Governments. Since then, the aviation team (consisting of six lawyers and a head of operations) have handled over USD$ 16 billion worth of transactions and have also carried out some of the most complex aircraft repossessions in the country. The Firm has also advised several international airlines in challenging market access transactions. In 2019, the firm successfully paved the way for the first and only deregistration and export of an aircraft under India’s new Cape Town Convention and Aircraft Protocol Regulations. Sarin & Co\'s noteworthy clients include the world’s top aircraft manufacturers, leasing companies, international airlines and banks. Sarin Memorial Legal Aid Foundation, the legal aid arm of Sarin & Co, partners with the International Institute of Air and Space Law of Leiden University in the Netherlands to organise the Leiden Sarin International Air Law Moot Court Competition in Chandigarh. Mr. Nitin Sarin is a dual qualified Advocate in India and Solicitor in England and Wales. He is also a guest lecturer at the IIASL, Leiden University as well as a qualified IATA trainer.
