ABOUT NITHYA SUBRAMANIAN

I work on diverse fields of molecular, cellular and chemical biology including NGS and CRISPR technologies. At the moment actively working on directed evolution and delivery of nucleic acids and XNAs for cellular uptake and functions.Oligonucleotide research expertise: Random library design, synthesis and directed evolution using modified nucleic acid libraries, gene editing using CRISPR technologies, delivery of nucleic acids (siRNA, shRNA, Nucleic acid enzymes) and RNP complexes. NGS technologies and deep sequencing data analysis using bioinformatics tools. Molecular Biology expertise: Cloning, nucleic acid isolations, invitro transcription, and translation, RNA – gel electrophoresis, transcriptome libraries for NGS, denovo NGS. High-throughput screening of compounds and guide RNA conjugates in 96 and 384 well formats by qPCR and flow cytometry. Synthesis of oligonucleotide – peptide and small molecular conjugates using conjugation chemistries.Cell Biology expertise: cell culture – 2D, 3D spheroids and liver organoids culturing and assaying functional drug conjugates. Stable cell line generation and affibody expression. Cellular application of the modified nucleic acids, CRISPR based functional screening, luciferase assays in multiwell formats. Cell imaging, immunofluorescence, immunoblotting, immunopulldown. Handling of human samples for COVID research at containment level 2 (CL2). Industrial R&D experience: Collaborated with multiple teams on different geographical location. Mentoring skills: Trained summer-term graduates and supervised Master’s research internships. Soft skills: Attended and presented at seminars and international conferences; poster presentation, writing scientific reports and publications. Volunteering in public events with general public.
