Supporting ADB-financed projects, I am responsible for ensuring full compliance with ADB’s Safeguard Policy Statement 2009 & national environmental regulations across various infrastructure and development programs. My role spans the planning, execution, and monitoring phases of projects with a strong focus on sustainability, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.Core Responsibilities: Environmental Due Diligence & Assessment • Conducting Initial Environmental Examinations (IEEs) and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) in accordance with ADB SPS and host country laws. • Screening projects, categorizing environmental risks (A/B/C), and advising executing agencies on safeguard requirements. Safeguard Documentation & Review • Preparing and reviewing Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), IEE reports, and Corrective Action Plans. • Ensuring integration of mitigation measures into project design, bidding documents, and contracts. Regulatory Liaison & Approvals • Coordinating with government authorities, pollution control boards, and ministries for environmental clearances and approvals. • Supporting compliance with statutory environmental licenses and permits. Monitoring, Audits & Reporting • Conducting site visits, environmental monitoring, and audits to assess safeguard implementation. • Preparing semi-annual safeguard monitoring reports (SSMRs), non-compliance notices, and follow-up actions for ADB review. Capacity Building & Stakeholder Engagement • Organizing training workshops for contractors, consultants, and executing agencies on ADB safeguard procedures. • Facilitating public consultations, stakeholder disclosures, and grievance redress mechanisms. Cross-Cutting Roles • Supporting climate risk assessments, GHG estimation, and biodiversity conservation planning in sensitive zones. • Coordinating environmental safeguard activities across sectors such as transport, urban infrastructure, energy, and water resources.
