Experience
Automation Test Engineer Intern
Jun 2025 — Present · Madison, WI, US
At Last Lock, I develop, maintain, and support hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) and end‑of‑line (EOL) test systems that keep our smart‑access products reliable from prototype to production. I built a Python‑driven automation suite that runs unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests across firmware, mobile (iOS/Android), web front‑end, and backend services—complete with automated device control and network‑impairment testing—so every release is validated quickly and repeatably.HighlightsDesigned and executed automated hardware test systems for regression and release validation across software/firmware, integrated with HIL rigs and EOL stations.Built, deployed, and supported cycle‑testing setups to simulate long‑term mechanical/electronic wear; added network shaping to test under poor connectivity (latency, loss, bandwidth caps).Automated mobile interactions and logging (ADB, iOS tooling via pymobiledevice3, J‑Link, nRF Connect) to capture device‑level telemetry and run repeatable scenarios.Integrated automated tests into CI/CD with GitHub and Docker; instrumented AWS (CloudWatch, S3) for artifacts, logs, and alerts; added quality gates for merge and release readiness.Utilized API/gRPC and embedded test harnesses with Python, C, Go, and Bash; orchestrated test controllers on Raspberry Pi and Linux.Collaborated daily with QA, Firmware, Electrical, Mechanical, and Production; supported release cycles by running and troubleshooting automated hardware tests.Documented processes and converted ad‑hoc scripts into maintainable, versioned systems; created how‑tos and provided hands‑on support for junior engineers/technicians.Participated in weekly stand‑ups and scoping to prioritize upcoming test coverage and infrastructure work.Tech & toolsGitHub · Linear · AWS (CloudWatch, S3) · Docker · Linux · ADB · pymobiledevice3 · J‑Link · Nordic nRF / nRF Connect · Raspberry Pi · gRPC · SQL · Python · Go · C · Bash · Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) · End‑of‑Line (EOL)
