   As an Engineer I with TechServ Engineering & Consulting, I lead the design and analysis of utility distribution poles across multiple states (Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas) for American Electric Power (AEP). My role focuses on ensuring structural integrity, compliance with NESC standards, and seamless coordination between engineering, design, and field operations.I utilize tools such as Katapult, STORMS, Distribution Design Studio (DDS), Atlas, and Google Earth to create geospatial layouts, process work requests, and perform Make-Ready Engineering (PMR) assessments. This involves analyzing pole structures, mapping conductor routes, and optimizing material configurations for power systems ranging from 12.5 kV to 69 kV.Recently, I’ve expanded my scope to include Design Mapping and Strand Mapping — processes that improve pole placement accuracy, safety, and field coordination. These methods enhance visibility for linemen and fielding teams, reduce rework, and ensure long-term network reliability.Key highlights include:1. Designing and engineering distribution poles compliant with NESC and AEP standards.2. Conducting PMR analysis and joint-use assessments for new installations.3. Implementing Design Mapping and Strand Mapping processes for precision and safety.4. Collaborating with QA/QC and cross-functional teams to improve project workflows.5. Leveraging mechanical engineering principles to enhance system performance and compliance.
