About Nirav Kumar Shah
After having studied and grown up at Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry, Nirav did an MBA in International Business from Pondicherry University. He speaks 7 languages and has a passion for IT and its use in education and literacy development. For over 20 years, Nirav has been working in the field of literacy and primary education in India. He has been leading the operations of PlanetRead (from 2003) and BookBox (from 2004) in India right from their inception. PlanetRead uses Same Language Subtitling (SLS) on TV in India, for mass literacy and BookBox produces animated stories powered by SLS to help language learning and improve reading skills. For the implementation of SLS, Nirav has worked with top organizations like: Google Foundation, Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Dell Giving, the Department of Education (Govt. of India), Mahindra Tractors, Doordarshan (India\'s state TV broadcaster) and USAID, to name only a few. Nirav is a dynamic person with strong leadership qualities. His sharp business acumen and drive for results have helped him complete many successful projects at PlanetRead and BookBox and get reading out to over 100 million viewers in India and internationally.
