I am a general and colorectal surgeon currently completing my U.S. board certification at Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston, where I previously completed an advanced colorectal surgery fellowship under Prof. Steven Wexner.I earned my medical degree cum laude from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 2011, and conducted my MD thesis at the Department of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery at Wolfson Medical Center in Israel. My surgical training includes residency in General Surgery at Sheba Medical Center in Israel, where I later served as an attending general and colorectal surgeon. I also spent time in training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.My research experience includes work as a visiting scientist in the Department of Immunology at the Weizmann Institute of Science, focusing on host-microbiome interactions. Over the years, I’ve remained committed to academic surgery and clinical research, with a particular interest in colorectal cancer, diverticular disease, and surgical innovation. I have authored more than 250 peer-reviewed publications and serve as a reviewer for several journals, including The Lancet journals, British Journal of Surgery, and Diseases of the Colon & Rectum.I hold academic appointments as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University, and serve on the Research Committees of both the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). I also serve on editorial boards and previously contributed as a board examiner for the Israeli Surgical Association. In parallel with my clinical work, I serve as Chief Medical Officer for Polymerit, focusing on surgical biomaterials development, and consult for early-stage med-tech companies.Fluent in Hebrew, English, Italian, and Spanish, I am passionate about collaborative research, education, and medical innovation that meaningfully improves patient care.
