ABOUT NIOMI C R
Four words to describe my characteristics are \'enthusiastic, organised, driven and resilient\'. Most recently I have become a Secondary English Teacher and HOY. I thoroughly enjoy these roles and I’m able to utilise a range of my primary skills to work alongside colleagues, parents and students - to succeed. My first book published by Bloomsbury in 2022 ‘The Emotionally Intelligent Teacher.’ I wrote this in the school holidays, alongside my Assistant Head role. This book is a guide to help practitioners manage their emotions and navigate through the complexities of school life. I have previously been an Assistant Headteacher. I taught a key stage 3 class. I was Curriculum lead, DSL, Maths and Physical Education lead, I also mentored trainee teachers who trained with CTTC (an outstanding TT provider). I have completed instructional coaching (NASBTT) and I am a qualified Trauma Perceptive Practice trainer. As a Physical Education lead I have worked with EPC (Essex Professional Coaches) and the teaching, CPD and provision they provide for whole school is fantastic. They are truly passionate about the service they deliver and this is reflected in their coaching. In May 2023 I was able to successfully deep dive through Maths, History and Curriculum Design with the lead Ofsted Inspector. I also discussed in great length the needs and achievements of our SEND children as well as the positive culture of our school. Previously, at John Ray Junior School, I was Year Lead, Head of Science across the Change Academy and part of the Teaching and Leading Team - in which I helped publish Precision Pedagogy. I also taught a Year 5 class. I have completed the OTP training and used to deliver NQT/ECT Science sessions, in my role as SLE, at the Essex Learning Village - the hub for school based teacher training. I completed my NPQML in Cambridge (ELC), based on developing Science engagement, as a whole school project. I have also completed the PSQM award for my first school - Notley Green Primary school. I carried out my GTP over a one year. The GTP (Graduate training programme) taught me to effectively manage my workload, stick to deadlines and make use of other professionals by sharing and reflecting. I am passionate about metacognition, retrieval practice and emotional intelligence. Professional Teacher X account:@NiomiEngTeach
