Currently undertaking a part-time professional development programme in International Investment Law & Dispute Resolution, at the leading British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL), under the guidance of professors in the field of arbitration, partners of leading law firms, barristers and arbitrators. This intensive programme combines rigorous theoretical study with practical insights into the governance of cross-border investment, providing hands-on engagement with complex issues such as treaty interpretation, substantive protections (including fair and equitable treatment and expropriation) and the procedural mechanics of investor–state dispute settlement. It also examines contemporary legitimacy challenges and reform initiatives, equipping participants with advanced analytical skills relevant to the practices of investment arbitration and international economic law.

ABOUT NINA SANDS
Extensive legal experience in supporting clients through high-value (multi-billion and multi-million dollar) and highly complex commercial disputes and transactions, including many matters with cross-border or technically demanding elements. I approach each case and transaction, with careful attention to detail, a strong sense of responsibility and a real commitment to achieving outcomes of excellence, for all clients. My extensive experience in the field has allowed me to develop both practical legal skills and commercial judgment, enabling me to navigate complex issues while considering the broader strategic and business implications.My academic background combines rigorous legal training with an incredibly strong foundation in analytical thinking. I hold an LPC with a focus on Corporate Law, covering the essential practice areas of Equity Finance, Debt Finance and Private Acquisitions, as well as an LLM in Corporate and Commercial Law, the GDL and a Biological and Biochemical Natural Sciences degree from the University of Cambridge. Additionally, I completed the Entrepreneurship Programme at Cambridge University’s Judge Business School, gaining detailed knowledge in Strategic Management, Innovation, Leadership, Business Model Design, Entrepreneurial Finance, Market Research, and Commercial Intellectual Property Law. Beforehand I ranked first out of over 300 candidates, for over four years, gaining the highest A level, AS level and GCSE results in the whole school. This combination of practical experience, academic excellence, legal knowledge and strategic insight allows me to contribute incredibly meaningfully and to an incredibly high standard on complex disputes and commercial matters, providing clients and colleagues with reliable, well-considered advice. I am motivated by challenging, international work and strive to deliver solutions that are both legally sound and commercially practical, whilst continually developing my expertise across the corporate and commercial fields of law.
