About Nina Harvey
I moved from the Ivory Coast to the United States about 2 decades ago. The first question my coworkers at my first job asked me was: “Did you swim all the way here?”—I literally burst out laughing and said: “Well, they’re airplanes over there too you know.”Shortly after my arrival, I went to school to learn English. I thought about quitting at times as it was no picnic for someone already speaking a native tongue and French. But despite the homesickness, mental and physical fatigue, and culture shock, I kept learning and adapting to my new environment. I later earned multiple degrees in both English and French. I’m that person. Once I make up my mind and say I’ll do something, it will happen. Once again, I put that perseverance and passion to work as a student. I’m currently enrolled at Springboard in the UI/UX Design Career Track to gain new skills that will allow me to switch careers from instructional designer to UI/UX designer, researcher, visual designer, UI Designer, or UX Designer (or wherever my job search takes me after I earn my new skills and certificate) in the tech field.My skills lie in research, design, critical thinking, problem-solving, project management, counseling, visual learning, curriculum development, instructional design, education-teaching, training.
