As a Civil Engineering Specialist – Tunnel Professional at AECOM, I am proud to be part of our highly skilled Montréal and U.S. tunnel teams, led by Dr. Verya Nasri, delivering complex underground infrastructure with innovation and precision. Our team has exclusively developed the New Montréal Tunneling Method (NMTM), an advanced design approach that improves constructability, efficiency, and sustainability. NMTM is now being successfully implemented in our large-scale major tunneling projects across Canada, including REM and the PLB in Montréal.Responsibilities – PLB ProjectI contribute to the Prolongement de la Ligne Bleue (PLB), a multi-billion-dollar project and one of Canada’s largest infrastructure programs, extending Montréal’s metro network. My work includes- Conducting site visits across stations, tunnels, and auxiliary structures- Preparing detailed engineering reports- Reviewing and making decisions on construction design documents in collaboration with other design engineers within our team on a daily basis- Resolving construction challenges and responding to technical inquiries- Ensuring construction aligns with AECOM’s designs and project specifications, including the preparation of non-conformity reports (NCR) when required.It is inspiring to be part of a team defined by leadership, innovation, and collaboration, delivering projects that make a tangible impact on urban mobility.
