About Niloy Jafar Iqbal
I am a resident physician in the Department of Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center, as well as the administrative chief resident of surgical education. Prior to residency, I was a fellow in the Medical Scientist (M.D./Ph.D.) Training Program at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. My doctoral research explored cell-cycle pathways of energy balance in the brain, with a focus on repurposing FDA-approved cancer therapies to treat metabolic syndromes such as obesity. My clinical interests are in transplant and HPB surgery, regenerative medicine, and surgical critical care.My undergraduate studies were completed at New York University, where I graduated with departmental honors in biology. I additionally served as a researcher at NYU Langone Medical Center, where my work focused on cellular signaling pathways in hormone-refractory prostate cancer. I served as Director of Finance at Khan\'s Tutorial, where I directly supervised eleven distinct site-specific financial portfolios of one of NYC\'s largest privately owned tutoring companies.
