ABOUT NILIMA HAKIM MOW

I am currently engaged in a project focused on the documentation and revitalization of an endangered Indigenous language called Akuzipik/Yupik. This language is spoken in the two villages of St. Lawrence Island, Alaska. My responsibilities involve documenting language data and converting it into digital formats for the benefit of the community. In addition, I am involved in the development and design of pedagogical teaching materials tailored for both the teachers and students of the community.In addition to my involvement in these projects, I have experience as an instructor at Ball State University. I held teaching responsibilities for first-year composition courses, including research composition, catering to freshman, junior, and honors students. My dedication and proficiency in teaching were recognized with the Ball State University Excellence in Teaching award.I contributed to the What3Words geocoding system project in the capacity of a language consultant. In this role, I was responsible for tasks such as linguistic data collection, analysis, and speech recognition.
