ABOUT NILAY SAGAR
My work examines how products evolve under real-world constraints — across manufacturing ecosystems, cost structures, and user environments.I analyse the structural forces that shape product architecture over time: supply-chain maturity, repair ecosystems, cost thresholds, regulatory pressure, and adoption psychology. These forces determine why some product categories evolve rapidly while others remain stable for decades. My experience spans electric mobility, mass-market consumer products, and retail systems across India and China. Working within high-volume manufacturing environments revealed how tooling, service networks, and operational risk tolerance quietly dictate design decisions long before aesthetics or branding enter the conversation.I use a systems lens to understand product evolution: incentives shape behaviour; behaviour shapes geometry; and ecosystem stability shapes what can realistically change. This perspective clarifies where innovation becomes viable, where continuity is necessary, and how products scale reliably across regions.I am particularly interested in mobility, emerging markets, and globally distributed manufacturing — where small architectural decisions can determine long-term adoption and competitiveness.
