ABOUT NIKUNJ VARA

Nikunj brings a wealth of expertise in safety coordination and chemical operations. Since March 2024, he has served as an on-call Safety Coordinator at United Safety Limited in Airdrie, Alberta, Canada. His role involves ensuring adherence to occupational health and safety regulations, developing Process Hazard Analyses, and representing the company in HAZOP studies for shutdown operations. He diligently monitors gas data to ensure confined space safety, conducts various safety assessments, and coordinates daily safety meetings. Additionally, he ensures that employees are thoroughly briefed on emergency plans, safe locations, and PPE requirements. Previously, He was an Operations Officer at Gujarat Chemical Port Limited (GCPL) in Dahej Port, India, from September 2021 to July 2023. In this role, he managed cryogenic products such as Propane, Butane, Ethane, and Nitrogen, ensuring minimal vapor loss. He blended Propane and Butane to meet LPG customer requirements and operated cryogenic pumps and Boil-off gas compressors. His responsibilities included the safe loading and unloading of various chemicals, performing tank cleaning and gas-freeing operations, and maintaining safe plant operations. He monitored process parameters through DCS, SCADA, and TFMS systems, conducted pipeline transfer and pigging operations, and provided guidance to field operators while maintaining meticulous log sheets. During his internship at Sumitomo Chemical India Limited in Bhavnagar, India, in early 2021, He gained invaluable hands-on experience in chemical engineering projects. He familiarized himself with pilot plant operations, conducted mass and energy balances, and monitored equipment for troubleshooting. He studied P & ID and interlocks and became proficient in SOP, Permit to Work, TBT, and LOTO procedures. He evaluated PSM elements, performed HAZOP and PSSR, and acquired knowledge of LOPA, SIS, BPCS, and RCA. This period further enhanced his understanding of safety, risk assessments, and chemical handling processes. He holds certifications in SAP ERP, DCS (Yokogawa 6.07), SCADA (Honeywell), and TFMS. He is certified in First Aid, CPR/AED, Confined Space Entry, H2S Alive, and WHMIS and has earned accolades in Chemical Process Safety and Mechanical Unit Operations. His technical proficiencies include CRW4, DWSIM, MATLAB, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
