ABOUT NIK PATEL
Consultant Neural & Spinal Surgeon with deep expertise in complex brain and spine procedures, including treatment-resistant depression, chronic pain, and cranial nerve disorders. A core member of the Bristol Functional Neurosurgery Team, I lead the use of deep brain stimulation (DBS) for challenging neurological and psychiatric conditions such as Parkinson’s, epilepsy, and refractory hypertension.My research focuses on brain-targeted therapeutics, including first-in-human trials of intracranial growth-factor delivery to slow Parkinson’s progression. I hold an MD in this area and a First-Class degree in Neurosciences, and currently serve as Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Bristol.Internationally recognised for contributions to functional neurosurgery, I’ve received honours including the AANS Philip C.
