About Nikki Martin
BackgroundI graduated from an honors program with a Biology degree and moved into pharmaceutical laboratories upon completion. I worked in quality, analytical, then R&D laboratories for about 6 years. I then shifted into the polymer industry as a project manager for R&D which included working more closely with senior leadership teams and interfacing with customers. I eventually landed in the specialty chemical industry for the next 6 years as a release coating and adhesive Application Engineer with responsibilities for the European portfolio. This role included training our European sales team and distribution network and I fell in love with supporting the sales teams. To pursue the next step in my career, I began to work on a master’s degree in international marketing management. As my family expanded, I took some time off from the corporate arena and worked freelance and part time jobs for 3.5 years to have more time at home. When I returned to the industry, instead of going back into a technical role, I went into sales. I have been in a sales or sales management role for the last 3.5 years.
