ABOUT NIKKI SMART

I am a senior HR professional with more than 18 years of people leadership across business sectors. I align global HR strategies with corporate investments; bringing clarity, structure and discipline that ensures smart leadership, training and talent management decisions that benefit all.Having started my HR career in as a BG Group Graduate Trainee, I quickly realised my ability to build strong relationships and improve business performance within large, complex and demanding environments. I then moved to 186K, the telecoms arm of Lattice Group Plc in 2001, where I initiated and led change improvements as Head of Learning and Development.In 2002, I joined National Grid, initially as HR Business Partner within the Operations and Trading, and Commercial divisions (2002 – 2006), progressing to a multinational role as Global HR Business Partner (2007 – 2011) where I supported all Corporate business functions. I transitioned to lead HR strategy for UK Business across three divisions with employees and contractors (2011 – 2014), before accepting the Global Head of Leadership, Talent and Change role (2014 – 2016). During this time, I directed a series of £multi-million transformational change programmes, as well as radical leadership, talent acquisition, development and lean management strategies. I guided the CEO and Executive Committee on time-critical organisational design and change initiatives across the UK and US, reporting to the Global HR Director. Following a short career break for Master’s degree study, I joined AMP Capital in 2018 to broaden my industry expertise, initially as a Consultant and progressing to Principal and subsequently Partner. One of my strengths is that I know how best to leverage opportunities that add tangible value, as well as maximising resource potential and implementing global cultural change. I am always interested in connecting with like-minded colleagues.
