ABOUT NIKKI SIMPSON

Leading a Community Health Worker Initiatives team out of the MassLeague to support community health centers (CHCs) in providing care to patients and communities they serve, beginning with launching a robust CHC-focused Community Health Worker (CHW) multidimensional program. In addition to overseeing a wide breadth of technical assistance focused on health center development; training and education programs for CHW\'s, health center executives, managers, clinicians and special populations. Experienced in the education/training settings with a vast knowledge of adult learning principles. Instrumental in the design and development of the core competencies for CHWs and the continuation of a nationally-recognized competency-based model for cross-training and professional development of front-line health workers. These competencies were approved by The Board of Certification of Community Health Workers within MDPH and implemented across Massachusetts among key stakeholders. A strong connection with local health agencies, healthcare providers and community based organizations in the public health setting. In Fall 2022, the CHW Initiative was identified by Health Resource and Services Administration (HRSA) as a promising practice and innovative program. Programs under this initiative have been highlighted and recommended as replicable programs that can be implemented throughout the country.
