ABOUT NIKKI MONGE
I am a passionate mechanical engineering student with a commitment to diversifying the STEM field. My journey began as a scholar at Kode with Klossy, where I learned to code and create iOS apps while connecting with a community that empowered me as a first-generation student and Hispanic woman in tech. This experience fueled my desire to challenge myself and advocate for representation in a male-dominated industry. Since then, I’ve pursued mechanical engineering and completed two impactful internships—at SoCalGas and GE Aerospace. These diverse experiences taught me the value of teamwork, the intricacies of various industries, and the importance of curiosity. I thrive on the satisfaction of overcoming challenges and delivering results, which drives my passion for engineering. In addition to my studies, I’ve thrived at the USD ITS Help Desk, where I advanced from student technician to student manager within a year and a half. In this role, I lead a team of over 20 student technicians, ensuring exceptional service for students, faculty, and parents while honing my leadership and communication skills. Outside of my academic and professional pursuits, I’m an avid reader, tackling about 30 books a year. I also enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes. I’d love to connect—whether to discuss engineering, share book or recipe recommendations, or simply to exchange ideas!
